This is the planet Venus as seen by an analogue camcorder on 22 April 2004. It was so bright (magnitude -4.5) that it could be seen by the naked eye in broad daylight. In the dark, Venus can be so dazzling that it could be mistaken for a hovering aircraft or even something less terrestrial. If you attempt to look at it with a camcorder, it can appear quite strange, especially if you use digital zoom as seen here.
The picture below was taken with my low-light CCD security camera attached to my telescope using eyepiece projection. This is a technique I am still experimenting with, but at least you can see the crescent shape of the planet. Venus is entirely covered with featureless clouds, so there wouldn't be much to see anyway.
